Black and white photograph of laborers in front of the settling bowls at the Kansas City Smelting and Refining Company, located in Argentine, Kansas. This is where the metal cooled and separated. The smelter produced gold, silver, lead, blue vitriol, and zinc and operated from 1880 until it closed in 1901.
