Description
Black and white photograph of Stanley Elementary School, rear and side elevations. The original Stanley Elementary School, built in 1888 was destroyed by fire in 1912 and shortly thereafter plans were made to build a new school. In January of 1913, land for the school was purchased from the Boeke family and Rose and Peterson Architects designed the new school which was planned to provide more light and circulation for the students and staff. It was also built in such a way that allowed for it to be added on to in response to population increases with the school's service area. The building was finished sometime around 1915 and a second story was added in 1923.
