Description
Black and white photograph of Roosevelt Elementary School, rear and side elevations. Located at 1303 N 36th Street. Roosevelt Elementary was designed by Rose and Peterson Architects, and was constructed in 1922. The seven-room building included an auditorium and gymnasium as well as space to serve hot lunches to students. Six teachers on faculty taught eight grades and the first principal was Maude Grady. In 1925, gas and electricity were added, and in 1949, six more rooms were added to the second floor. The building was used by USD 500 until 2000, when students were moved to Chelsea Elementary and the building was sold.
